Professor Chen is a Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) who is registered in the United Kingdom, in China, and he is an R.TCM.P here in British Columbia, Canada. After graduating from the University of Chinese Medicine in China, he continued his quest for knowledge by practicing at a local TCM Hospital as an internal medicine doctor under the guidance of the renowned TCM professor Shouli Yue. There, he expanded his clinical and teaching abilities in both acupuncture and herbal medicine, which allowed him to join the Chinese Acupuncture Association and work as a professor of the Chinese Acupuncture & Tuina Association (CATA).

While practicing acupuncture, herbal medicine and Tuina, Professor Chen also began to develop his expertise in internal disorders such as cardiac and stroke symptoms, brain and mental wellness, along with pediatric and prenatal health.

In 2001, Professor Chen was invited to practice Chinese Medicine in the United Kingdom and brought along with him his knowledge of herbal medicine, which resulted in the creation of 30 new herbal formulas that solved local health symptoms.

The concept of prevention, which is an important cornerstone of Chinese medicine, became Professor Chen’s focus when he came to North America. He also brought the modern research of TCM from Asia to his practice in the West. This allowed him to adapt the ancient oriental medical practice into newer, more modern fields and improve the all around perception and education of TCM to North Americans. Trained in the classical tradition, he carries historical school lineages of Chinese Taoist and Tibetan medicine. As a martial arts master he chaired on the Shandong Universities’ Martial Art Association and has practiced Tai Chi and Meditation daily for the past 28 years.

Meet Dr. Natalie Waller, ND—a naturopathic doctor with over 20 years of clinical experience and a recognized leader in aesthetic medicine and non-surgical hair rejuvenation.

In addition to running a thriving clinical practice, Dr. Waller is an instructor with the IIAM. She is the lead instructor for both the PRP Skin and Hair Rejuvenation course and the Filler Safety course for NDs, and she also serves as an assistant instructor for the Introductory and Advanced HA Filler courses. (Yes, she really does keep that many plates spinning—and somehow enjoys it.)

Dr. Waller’s early clinical work centered on pain and injury management, where she was an early adopter of regenerative injection therapies including prolotherapy, PRP, and mesotherapy. When she discovered that PRP could also be used for aesthetic purposes, she integrated it seamlessly into her practice—after all, once her patients felt better, they quite naturally wanted to look better, too. Although she had previously offered facial rejuvenation acupuncture, introducing PRP for facial and hair rejuvenation marked the beginning of her deep dive into the aesthetic realm.

She quickly became a leader in PRP aesthetics in Vancouver, long before the treatment became widely known. As her aesthetic practice expanded, she continued to advance her skills with training in neuromodulators (wrinkle relaxers), hyaluronic acid fillers, and biostimulants.

Dr. Waller’s passion for treating hair thinning began over a decade ago, when she started using PRP to support patients experiencing hair loss. With limited formal training available at the time, she dedicated years to advanced self-education. Her commitment ultimately led her to become the first ND in British Columbia to complete the highly esteemed Evidence Based Hair Fellowship (EBHF)—a credential that positions her as an expert in hair and scalp conditions.

And while Dr. Waller may be considered an expert in the hair world, she approaches her work with the mindset of a lifelong student—always learning, always refining, and always striving to stay at the forefront of the field.
